Warning Against Idolatry

Text: Deuteronomy 13:1-11

Reflection and Question: Here is a stern warning against following other gods or accepting leaders who entice us to follow other gods. Duly warned, we remember, “The Spirit gives us courage to unmask idolatries in Church and culture (Brief Statement of Faith).” How will you be tempted today to worship idols (money, achievement, attention, things, for example) and how will you stand against the temptation?

Prayer: Mighty God, may your warning steer us to the way You have commanded us to walk. Open our eyes to false paths so that we may delight in You will and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your Holy Name. Amen.
